June 7, 2006. Finally on the road! We drove from home to Amarillo, TX. On the way, we passed through Quanah, where we stopped at the Brick Street Cafe and found a friendly crowd and murals on the walls, where we stopped to eat lunch. They had many different types of teas and beverages. When we got to our hotel in Amarillo, there was an atrium with an indoor pool and hot tub, but the pool was freezing cold. Gerald swam anyway, while Harold and I enjoyed the hot tub. That evening we had enough time to visit the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon, where we stayed to watch the play "Texas," and climbed the rocks while waiting to get in. We had a midnight meal at IHOP. Thanks to Harold, the best tour guide, this is starting out great.
