It was evening and there were downpours during a thunder and lightning storm with reports of tornado watches. I dropped Gerald off at Blake's house and went to (ran to, actually, from the parking lot) the poetry reading by Martin Espada at the Tarrant County College's "Living Literature" series, on March 29, 2007. He is a professor of English literature at UMass-Amherst. Listen online. Try this interview of Martin Espada with Bill Moyers. And read his poem, "Alabanza."
"A poet can be a teacher, a historian, a journalist, an organizer, a preacher, a caretaker, or a bard. And a poet can be a political activist, one who participates in the great changes that the world is always going through. We can go back to a poet that used to wander the streets of Brooklyn in the mid-19th century: Walt Whitman."

Hi Lynne,
I stumbled on your nice blog here! It's Cindy from BHTM and Mohr Philosophy. Gosh I miss Todd's stuff. It's strange how he just stopped contributing, but maybe he'll start again someday. Guess rock stars don't have lots of idle time after all!
I'll have to surf your blog some more later (I'm at work now -tisk tisk). I did notice you had Todd's Blue Buddha on your podcast challenge link. I love that pic and printed it out and had him sign it after a show. I have it hanging in my kitchen. I have a little blog - I hardly update it but come visit sometime!
Well I just listened to your very own podcast. Kudos! My sentiments exactly!!!
Thanks, Cindy. Great to hear from a fellow fan. The podcast was fun. It was an exercise for one of our teams at work and each of us did one. Some people did theirs on something no one else knows about them, so it was fun to hear about people's secrets. It's like hosting your own radio show.
BTW, Cindy, I look forward to reading your posts on the Mohr philosophy forum. With the tour, the move to Illinois and recording the new album, little wonder that TPM hasn't updated his blog. I look forward to it, tho, when he does get back to what's on his mind. Hope all is well in NY.
Thanks Lynne, I always enjoy your thoughtful posts too. My curiosity was instantly piqued at the beginning of Todd’s blog and evolved into an intense study of the subject, which branches out in so many areas. I really feel I need it now; that’s why I posted Pi’s blog; to hopefully spark some discussion over there. He is another great thinker.
What line of work are you in?
